The wild caller
I am Brazilian born artist based in Virginia, USA, and I create semi-abstract watercolor and acrylic artworks. Inspired by organic shapes, my practice explores the interplay of lines, texture, and colors.
I studied agronomy and marketing, yet like an untamed horse pacing in a stall, I sensed that something essential was being starved while everything else was well fed.
I experimented with several forms of art before returning to drawing—and eventually painting. I did not find a purpose in art; it was waiting within me to be remembered. A repressed instinct pulsed beneath the surface, and following it feels like surrendering to a voice I had long trained myself not to hear.
My process is an attempt to return to my free, wild self. I carry traces of repression, delay, and resistance as I walk back into places once called home. In flora and fauna I encounter familiar forms, and finally, I feel that I belong.
I think of people, places, and moments, and I let my body become a vessel for paint to pass through.
